メタフィールドの宣言に、owner_type が加わります

対象は、Checkout UI extensions と Customer Account UI extensions。

shopify.extension.toml でメタフィールドを宣言するときに、owner_type を書けるようになりました。

Starting with API version 2026-10, Checkout and Customer Account UI extensions can specify an owner_type for each metafield declaration in shopify.extension.toml.
（API バージョン 2026-10 から、Checkout と Customer Account の UI extensions は、shopify.extension.toml のメタフィールドの宣言ごとに owner_type を指定できます）

2026-10 の時点の公式の言葉は「指定できる」。

2027-01 からは、owner_type が無いとデプロイが止まります

API バージョン 2027-01 から、owner_type は必須です。

Starting with API version 2027-01, owner_type is required for every metafield declaration, and deployments without it will be blocked.
（API バージョン 2027-01 から、owner_type はすべてのメタフィールドの宣言で必須になり、これが無いデプロイは止められます）

止まるのは、デプロイの段階です。

owner_type は、メタフィールドの持ち主を表します

宣言を書く場所は2か所。

Metafield declarations in [[extensions.metafields]] and [[extensions.targeting.metafields]] accept a new owner_type property. owner_type names the resource that owns the metafield, such as PRODUCT or CUSTOMER.
（[[extensions.metafields]] と [[extensions.targeting.metafields]] のメタフィールドの宣言が、新しい owner_type のプロパティを受け付けます。owner_type は、そのメタフィールドを持つリソースの名前を示します。たとえば PRODUCT や CUSTOMER です）

なぜ持ち主を書かせるのかも、公式は説明しています。

Shopify uses owner_type to fetch only the metafields from the resource types your extension needs, which improves extension performance.
（Shopify は owner_type を使い、拡張機能が必要とするリソースの種類からだけメタフィールドを取りにいきます。これで拡張機能の性能が上がります）

取りにいく範囲を絞るための項目、という位置づけです。

効くのは、toml でメタフィールドを宣言している拡張機能です

条件は2つそろったとき。

Checkout and Customer Account UI extensions that declare metafields in shopify.extension.toml and use API version 2027-01 or later are affected.
（shopify.extension.toml でメタフィールドを宣言し、API バージョン 2027-01 以降を使う Checkout と Customer Account の UI extensions が影響を受けます）

• shopify.extension.toml でメタフィールドを宣言している
• API バージョン 2027-01 以降を使う

メタフィールドを宣言していない拡張機能は、対象外です

公式は、影響を受けない側もはっきり書いています。

Extensions that don’t declare metafields in shopify.extension.toml are unaffected.

対象かどうかの分かれ目は、toml に宣言があるかどうか。

開発者がやること

公式の言い方は、上げる前に足しておく、です。

On API version 2027-01 or later, deployments will be blocked if any metafield declaration is missing an owner_type. Add owner_type to each metafield declaration before you upgrade. You can add it now on 2026-10.
（API バージョン 2027-01 以降では、owner_type の無いメタフィールドの宣言が1つでもあると、デプロイが止められます。バージョンを上げる前に、それぞれのメタフィールドの宣言に owner_type を足してください。2026-10 のうちに、いま足せます）

移行の手順は3つ。

Open your extension’s shopify.extension.toml file and add the appropriate owner_type value for each metafield declaration.
（拡張機能の shopify.extension.toml を開き、メタフィールドの宣言ごとに、合う owner_type の値を足してください）

If your extension needs the same namespace and key from multiple resource types, create a separate declaration for each owner_type.
（拡張機能が、同じ namespace と key を複数のリソースの種類から必要とするなら、owner_type ごとに別の宣言を作ってください）

Redeploy the extension and confirm that the deployment completes without validation errors related to metafield declarations.
（拡張機能をデプロイし直し、メタフィールドの宣言にかかわる検証エラーが出ずにデプロイが終わることを確かめてください）

1. shopify.extension.toml を開き、宣言ごとに owner_type を足す
2. 同じ namespace と key を複数の種類から読むなら、owner_type ごとに宣言を分ける
3. デプロイし直し、宣言の検証エラーが出ないことを見る

足す時期は、2027-01 に上げる前。2026-10 のうちに足せます。

2. 自社でこの2種類の UI 拡張を作っている店は、開発の担当に shopify.extension.toml の宣言を見直してもらう
